Recently, a set of books printed by SIP-based Meikele Printing Co Ltd won the Printing and Reproduction Award of the China Government Award for Publishing, one of the highest honors in China’s press and publication sector. This also marks the first time in 13 years that a Suzhou-based company has received this prestigious national accolade.

This set of books, highlighting research on the “Eight Eccentric Painters of Yangzhou” (referring to eight outstanding artists in the Qing Dynasty), is a comprehensive collection of scholarly, artistic, and collectible value. The company avoided flashy over-packaging, instead pursuing a simple, elegant, and classical visual style. The binding features a thread-sewn, bare-spine design for easy flat reading and silent page turning. The cover is embellished with silk illustrations, while the interior uses high-quality paper that is soft yet substantial, enhancing the reading experience.

During the printing process, the company utilized world-class color reproduction technology, applying standardized, digital methods to meticulously process images of the painters’ paintings. This has ensured color consistency and distinct layering throughout the final product.
